The silence is loud, deafening even. Two people locked in on each other, only spaces away. Had it been with anyone else, Ningguang would aim to assert her dominance by any means, intimidation in any form in order to ensure she’d have less chances of losing something worth of value later on. With Beidou, however, there was no need for that. She had long since given up in the fight for her compliance, and rather preferred knowing there’d be more challenge when it came to her.
To be fair though, she much rather preferred Beidou when it came to plenty of things.

Gamora looked away from Quill and ran a hand through her hair, trying to clear her thoughts. Maybe it was the alcohol finally getting to her. Maybe she really had lost her sense. Whatever it was, she had to stop herself before she went too far. There was a far more pressing matter at hand and Gamora would get nowhere if she let herself get lost in her own train of thought.
That, and she still needed to get an answer out of Quill. The faster Gamora got that, the easier they could go back to their respective lives.

Summary
They stay that way for a long time, Catra’s face tucked into Adora’s shoulder, Adora gently cradling Catra’s head. Adora is careful not to hug Catra too hard or make her feel restrained, anticipating the moment that Catra will start to pull away — but Catra doesn’t. She hangs on so tightly it hurts, her claws digging through Adora’s jacket and into her back, latching into her like she did when she was a kitten and didn’t know how much her claws could hurt. Adora tries not to wince, tries not to move a single muscle, worried that if she does the spell will break and Catra will struggle away, appalled at having shown weakness.
But Catra doesn’t let go. And so neither does Adora.
