The music returned, a bold accompaniment of strings, droning in her ears. Then, the woman began to sing. Her voice was smooth as honey, yet bold. Her voice wrapped around each syllable. It claimed every inch of space in the room. It was as if the stage was hers alone. The song itself was provocative in its lyrics, setting the framework for her character. It made Kakania shift in her seat, cheeks warming. She found herself subconsciously leaning forward, bewitched by the woman’s voice.
Suddenly, a pair of purple eyes found her. They locked with hers, trapping her under their gaze. A glint appeared in them, something mimicking intrigue. The singer continued her ballad. However, her gaze remained locked with Kakania’s own.
