Summary
“Lena Luthor, right?” Kara says and Lena’s lips thin. Her ego scoffs at the idea that Kara doesn’t know who she is. Besides having had a class together every semester since freshman year, Lena’s a fairly known entity on campus if only because of her family, just the same as Kara and her goon teammates are well-known.
“I see your reading skills are intact. Nice to meet you,” she says sarcastically.
The tragic, amusing, altogether shocking story of how Lena Luthor agrees to tutor an idiot hockey player and, somehow, ends up with a fake girlfriend.

“I hope we can be friends,” she says and Lena’s throat feels thick at the sound of it. “I care about you, you know.”
Heat spikes in the back of Lena’s eyes. “Friends,” she repeats. “Of course. Why couldn’t we be?”
The answer is obvious. They were never really friends, even when they technically were. Lena has zero idea how Kara plans to manage it now with all their history between them.A sort of retelling of S2 under the premise that Lena and Kara went to college together and dated.

“I’m sure.” Lena doesn’t mean to snap —it’s more of a mild annoyance if anything because if her once best friend doesn’t know that there is no way in hell she would be doing this if she didn’t want to, if she didn’t, however unwillingly, trust Kara with this, then did she ever know her at all? “As long as you’re amenable, Kara, I’m offering my complete consent. Is that okay, or would you like it in writing as well?”
For the first time, Lena’s snipe and the crystal clear memory of their last phone call just makes Kara smile. “I’m good,” she says softly.
“Good.”
“You know, a week ago, the morning after we— I’d convinced myself it was a dream. I was scared to check my call log.”
“Do you have many wet dreams about me, Kara?”
Kara laughs suddenly, though she can’t help but feel like she’s been missing out on an essential experience. “No.”
“Shame.”
“You, uh, you hung up last time,” Kara ventures hesitantly. “Before I could…”
“If you’re worried I didn’t complete the mission, I’m happy to inform you that I did.”
“No, before I could tell you that you sounded beautiful.”

“No, I—I. Um.” Quiet. A steadying breath. “Now you’re just teasing me,” Kara murmurs, a dusting of red high on her cheeks. Lena’s delighted.
“First, you come into my home unexpectedly,” Lena says, and Kara whispers-justifies a quiet yeah, to cuddle, “and now you lick my neck. What’s next?”

Lena drills her gaze into Kara without sparing a glance for the device on her desk, and Kara wonders if Lena knows deep down that Kara wouldn’t steal it back from her now, just like she hadn’t in the Fortress. Not like Lena had stolen it from her.
“No, I’m not— that’s not why I’m here. It’s you,” Kara urges, lurching across the threshold and into Lena’s office. “I want— I’m here for you.”
