“One more thing you should know,” Pez adds as Henry takes the invitation from him. “June Claremont-Diaz is coming.”
Henry freezes.
June Claremont-Diaz isn’t the problem. She’s a lovely girl, and her articles about their shelter openings have always been kind. Pez has invited her to each fundraiser since the Los Angeles shelters’ opening, and she’s attended every single one, happy to participate in the theme if she can get a good article out of it.
No, the problem isn’t June Claremont-Diaz. The problem is her brother.
Or, Henry and Pez’s new shelter is opening in Brooklyn, and Henry is determined to spend the entire night avoiding Alex, while Alex is determined to do the exact opposite of that.

Summary
"Can you teach me?" His voice is smaller than he would like, timid almost but he can't help it. He remembers the stories of bandits, how they prey on weakness in an instant. Despite his grandmother's shrieked warnings blaring in his mind like alarm bells, he doesn't feel that from the man standing before him.
"Teach you what, sweetheart?" Alex drawls in that honeyed tone only used when they're alone, raising his flask to his lips and taking a long swig.
"How to fuck?"
Alex's resounding splutter echoes throughout the canyon, making an owl screech and fly away from its perch while Henry can only stare at the sharp line of his jaw.
Henry Fox has resolved himself to live a quiet life, forever firmly held under his grandmother's thumb, never able to spread his wings and flourish; and he is fine with this.
Yet, when their home is ransacked by bandits he finds himself at the forefront of the massacre, faced with whiskey-coloured eyes and a smooth timbre, warming him from the inside out when he has always felt like ice. So, of course, he does the only logical thing a human can do in this situation.
He offers himself up for ransom.

Summary
Alex had always believed himself to be a good person. He was a human rights lawyer, tried to be as good of a son as he could be, did not spend a day without texting his sister and made sure to always spare Nora some time when she needed fashion advice. Which was why, he later on argued with himself, he could not ignore the opportunity to help his (very nice, and very distressed) neighbour in the midst of a crisis.
Especially when said neighbour had a cute dog. It was all about the dog, really.—
In which Alex agrees to fake date his next-door neighbour for his brother’s wedding the following week. (What could go wrong, am I right?)

Summary
When Alex landed his first job as a stuntman, his dad had sat him down to pass on some advice. Don’t take on more than you can handle just to impress someone, he’d said, and never hide injuries. Always speak up if you’re concerned about safety on set. Make sure to always get enough sleep. And never, ever, get involved with the actors.
He never said anything about directors, though.
(When Alex agreed to take a job doing stunts for a movie directed by his ex, all he wanted was to make it out in one piece. After a rocky start, they figure out a way to work together again, but that new equilibrium is tested when the film’s lead actor goes missing and Alex finds himself thrown into a world of secrets, blackmail, and people actually trying to kill him. Saving Henry’s movie just might be his most dangerous stunt yet, but can he play the hero, or is he destined to be the fall guy?)
