Pearl returns home from Double Life, and she seems to be the only one who remembers what transpired. She's also the only one to retain her injuries. Pearl tries to heal from the explosions that took her and Scott's final life, but it's hard when it feels like she's still going mad.
Things become a little bit easier when she finds somebody who remembers a very similar game.

“Is there a way for someone else to be in my dream? Just … a person, for me.”
He deliberately did not look anywhere near Hypno after the question. A part of him knew there wouldn’t be any judgement, but he didn’t want to actually confirm it.
“A person? Of course! Does it have to be someone you know?” An elbow knocked into his own, sending him off the path. Wels would’ve glared at him, a scoff escaping him instead. It would get the thought across. “Chill, chill! I’m just teasing … unless I’m not? If you want a special someone in your dreams, I’ve got you bro!”
Wels wanted to shove him off the other side of the path. “Shut up! It’s not- no, forget it. It’s fine, a dream like usual is fine.”
Or, Wels dreams with Hypno, and being human had never been scarier than right then. Nothing could compare to being near someone and experiencing physical contact for the first time.

Summary
Wels wasn’t human and he hated it. Every inch of him was so far from human. His body was the armour he’d transformed into all those years ago, and nothing occupied the inside of that shell. Beyond the visor, in the dark, was no human face.
And oh how many times he’d dreamed of being real, like the other Hermits. Oh how he wished he could get close, hug them, laugh with them with a real mouth, feel the heat of a campfire they would all sit around. But he stayed at a distance, never really getting close. If anyone looked too close they would see him for what he really was; an imposter, a fake.
Mimics didn’t dream either. He never actually dreamed of being real. He couldn’t. Not naturally, at least.
But if there was anyone that could help him out, it was Hypno.
Or, Wels wants to know what it’s like to be human, so he asks their local dreamweaver Hypno for some help
