Summary
The Phoenix Saga
Ranma, all but trapped in his feminine form, leaves the Tendo Dojo in search of a "normal" life. With the Full Body Cat's Tongue rendering them unable to take a hit and putting martial arts largely out of her life, Ranma needs a new career, too. After spending a few months homeless in Tokyo, Ranma ends up getting a job in a bar run by a found family consisting of the owner and four hard-luck girls that work there and now live as sisters. At the Phoenix, Ranma finds a place where she can be accepted and "normal," learns to deal with the trauma she's experienced and finds acceptance with her new family. As she does so, she also learns to live as a young woman, discovering a new talent and career as a singer.
Book VIII: Plummet
As preparations for her wedding launch into full swing, and her first album launches to great acclaim, ghosts from Ranko's past threaten everything she and Akane have built and throw her deep into depression and self-doubt. Summary
Ranma Saotome has a terrible curse, but at least his father had the good sense to look for cures and preventatives before they left China. Armed with traditional medicine that can halt his curse's effects until the next sunrise, Ranma alone heads to Japan while Genma remains in China looking for a more permanent cure.
Of course, this means Ranma isn't remotely accustomed to being a girl when he doesn't want to be, and suddenly thrust into an engagement he wasn't expecting, nobody in Furinkan actually knows he and the mysterious redheaded girl who arrived at almost the same time are the same person.
All Ranma has to do is keep it that way, avoid being her, and definitely avoid getting into trouble as her. Ramna had never been very good at staying out of trouble.

Serena hesitated, like she always did, but Ash didn’t wait for her answer. He took her hand into his own and pulled her up, letting her lean heavily on him as she stumbled forward over her weak leg.
And with that, Serena got the answer to her question; no, not every Kanto kid was like this. Because no one else had offered her a hand when she needed it, no other kid went out of their way to talk to her, Arceus, she wasn’t sure the last time she was given a genuine smile from one of her peers. Ash definitely wasn’t like any kid here at camp. She wondered if he was like any kind of kid in the world. He was so… different.
Maybe Serena needed a little different.
