Summary
It happens in an instant.
Over Ilya’s shoulder, Shane sees the doctor and Wiebe give each other a look, and in a sudden bout of impatient anxiety, Shane ends up saying the words that come to ruin everything.
“Don’t touch me.”
The effect is instantaneous. Ilya’s hands fly to his sides, and Shane gets a front row seat as Ilya’s heart breaks before his very eyes. Eyes dimming and lips trembling in slow, painful technicolor.
It causes Shane’s heart to break, too, and he vows, immediately, never to see such a look cross his husband’s face again.
OR Shane embarks on a mission to heal his husband’s heart, one PDA at a time.

Summary
Shane's heart drops as he watches a 250 pound wall of muscle brutally tackle Ilya to the ice and hit him, hard, landing one blow square on his jaw and another closer to his right eye. The altercation only lasts a few seconds as even the Detroiters have enough sense to help the Centaurs restrain their captain. Ilya stays limp for a few seconds, which to Shane feels like hours, before he props himself up on his elbows, spits out blood and starts laughing in the face of an enraged Detroit captain.

Summary
Shane starts to feel overwhelmed as the noise and lights build around him, pushing him toward a shutdown he can’t stop. Ilya notices immediately and gently gets him out before things get worse. Back at the apartment, he helps Shane settle and recover, reminding him that he’s safe, and that he never has to handle it alone.
Or, Shane has an autistic shutdown and Ilya helps him out of it.

Summary
How has this not been brought up before? He thought they had both waited eagerly, impatiently, desperately for what they have now. For when they could stop pretending that they don't want each other and actually be together.
Was he wrong about all of that? Is it possible that, somehow, Ilya couldn't care less if they were sleeping with other people or not. Is this some twisted form of…generosity? Or is it guilt, because Ilya wants to sleep with other people? Did he really enter a waking nightmare where Ilya is growing bored of him and wants them to change things up with other people?

or: the fight in TLG, where Ilya tells Shane he can sleep with other people, goes a little differently. Shane doesn't storm out, and they talk things through. Eventually.

“I know. I looked for recipe earlier, while you were still sleeping. Found one that fits perfectly with your diet. Is macrobiotic french toast, made by chef Ilya.” He sounded like he was smiling.
“Oh.” Was all Shane could force out.
This was it. The final straw. Ilya was leaving him. Shane had not eaten bread in years, and now, Ilya was making him french toast? Ilya had gone out of his way to look for a recipe that would fit into the diet he was following?
