Summary
It was awkward to be face to face with the hero who kept trying to arrest you, take you in—whatever the term was. It was awkward. It was even more awkward to be trapped in some unknown basement, injured, and without proper medical supplies.
Izuku was sixteen. He was not prison material, for fuck’s sake, and he wasn’t about to go to some kind of juvenile detention center just because he filled the gaps better than the heroes next to him! He liked heroes, you know? He didn’t do anything that would harm them! That was why he took the bullet! Why was Eraserhead of all people, the man of self-proclaimed logical ruses, yelling at him? Like, come on!
(or: izuku is a vigilante with no qualms for violence. aizawa is a hero who keeps watching izuku bite the bullet.)

Sam's chest tightened, his own guilt gnawing at him. He couldn't shake Riley's death, or the countless others—friends and allies who had died because he hadn't been fast enough, hadn't been strong enough, hadn't been there.
The memories were sharp, like a blade pressed against his ribs—the ‘what ifs ' that haunted him every time he thought of those people gone because he hadn't been fast enough, hadn't done enough. The slow ache as friends drifted away, leaving him with fragments of himself to piece back together alone. He couldn't let that happen to Bucky. Not after everything he’d endured. Not when Sam has survived everything only to witness his friends leave him behind.
‘I can't lose you, too,’ Sam whispered, voice breaking just slightly. ‘I couldn't... not again. You think you're alone in this, Bucky? You’re not. I'm right here, I'm not leaving. I won't leave. You've been through hell, I've seen it, and... and I've failed before. I won't fail you.’

It had gotten to the point that his entire reflection seemed to become distorted and splinter like a kaleidoscope. Only when he felt the strain of his eyelids did, he realise he hadn’t been blinking."
While at some gala to help launch the 'New Avengers', Bucky catches a glimpse of himself in a mirror and begins to instantly spiral. It's something about his eyes that just don't look right...
