Hua Cheng lifted his head slowly, wiping the remnants of tears from his face with the back of his hand. The agony did not vanish, but it sharpened into purpose. He was finally strong enough to protect him.

You Huo froze.
Slowly, almost mechanically, his gaze lowered.
A muscular broad chest. Strong defined hands he had secretly stared at more times than he cared to admit. A white shirt left open at the collar, black leather suspenders crossing a body that did not belong to him. His wrists bound loosely in front of him.
Why was he in Qin Jiu's body?
A wave of impending dread washed over him.
“Big Invigilator?”
Qin Jiu didn't know why, but his first instinct had been to call for this person—to ask him something important.
A few seconds later, another strange feeling dawned on him.
He didn't recognize himself when he sat up and saw the pale face and bright eyes he had admired so often stare back at him through a mirror.“I am in Big Invigilator's body...”
Or: they wake up as the other person after Qin Jiu's first day of confinement at Invigilator A's place. Before their confession, they're forced to figure out how to get their bodies back and dismantle the System while (trying to) not pull everyone else into their chaos.

“You’re drunk.” You Huo pushes him on the bed, and straddles him slowly. For all his composure, he’s not meeting Qin Jiu’s eyes and his cheeks look flushed.
“I know.” He pulls in You Huo to flutter kisses at his neck and says, “But it’ll be morning soon, and I won’t be drunk, but you’ll still be gorgeous.” It’s good that You Huo’s collarbone can’t see Qin Jiu’s face.
[Or, what if there's a bar near the site where the system is being built, mostly for bored workers and stationed soldiers. Maybe one night, a certain pair meet years earlier than expected. And fall for each other too, but that's the obvious part with them.]
