This is a retelling of Ayla's story from the second half of Valley of Horses, going into The Mammoth Hunters and running into The Plains of Passage. I've taken many elements from the original story to keep the characters true to form while rearranging some things and taking small liberties to craft an accurate tale of girl power!

Summary
The year is 1977, the war is in full swing, and Regulus Black is going to do something about it.
Admittedly, his plan to form a third side, defeat both Voldemort and Dumbledore, and take over Britain himself is an... extreme way to avoid joining the Death Eaters. Especially when Regulus is juggling fighting a war with playing quidditch, studying for OWLs, and pretending he doesn't care what stupid prank Sirius and his friends have pulled now.
But what else is he supposed to do? Give in and bow down?

[PREVIOUSLY KNOWN AS 'CREATURE OF WINTER']Death thought that he had managed to avert the crisis rather well, all things considered. Harry Potter was dead, sure, but the boy's lack of a beating heart was hardly that much of a issue in the greater scheme of things. Really, it was Death's opinion that his master had been improved upon in death, now that he was without pesky things like a heartbeat or blood.
Though, it certainly brought in a great deal of questions regarding the boy's mortality when he got up every morning to eat breakfast.
