    Summary

Jisung squeezes Chenle’s waist to try and soothe him. “Hey, it’s okay,” he says. Though it brings heat to his cheeks, he adds, “If you need a fake date for whatever party your family was talking about, I’ll go. I really don’t mind.”

It’s silly, the thought of parading around with Chenle pretending to be a couple. They’re friends, and they fuck. There's nothing romantic about them.

But Jisung can’t stand to see Chenle in distress like this.

or: Jisung accidentally meets Chenle’s family after a hook-up, and they think he’s Chenle’s boyfriend.

Hyuck?” Chenle cries. “You’re both here?”

He backs up to let two people in, throwing Jisung an apologetic look over his shoulder. They don’t make it far, though, both freezing in the entryway when they notice Jisung lingering awkwardly.

“Um,” says the guy who spoke before. “Who’s this?”

The other gives Jisung a careful once-over, and his mouth slowly falls open. Before Jisung, Chenle, or the first guy can speak, he goes, “Oh my god. I knew it.”

Chenle groans, bringing a hand up to his forehead. “Renjun, don’t—”

The words register with a delay and they run like frigid water down his back. He wraps his fingers around Kenta’s forearms. You. You’ll get out of here. His panic sharpens in a blunt, stubborn refusal. “No.

He presses the phone to his ear as he keeps walking – he tries to think about the layout of the building, the winding alleys that surround it. He’s limping slightly, but he can’t pinpoint to the origin of it.

    “Hello?”

Kim swallows against the words he has to say, heart beating wildly in his chest. “They have Kenta.”

A few seconds of silence drag past, Nolan clearly debating, but when he speaks, there isn’t the judgement, or resentment, that Theo had been expecting. Instead there’s just a tired, quiet sort of understanding, which; Theo flinches, feeling it like a knife between his ribs.

“You did that on purpose,” he concludes softly. “Making Liam angry with you. You did that on purpose.”

Theo can’t help it; he has to curl back up, and over the vulnerable core of himself, his shoulders rounding and his back hunching. “Yeah, well,” he replies eventually. “It’s better for everyone if he stays that way.”

    Summary

Phil Callahan has made a large variety of strange arrests in his time working as a cop for Hawkins, Indiana. Daylight skinny-dippers; a small group of old ladies who’d attempted to rob the corner shop with their umbrellas, a guy who’d stolen a total of eighteen gnomes from his suburban neighborhood.

But pulling over Max Mayfield driving her brother’s Camaro at the ripe age of thirteen was pretty insane. Sure, kids will be kids and kids will be crazy. Until Steve Harrington crawled out of the backseat, clutched his knees and horror-movie hurled blood all over his boots and shit got crazier.

That took it from a minor concern to oh, fuck. Callahan has to take this kid to a hospital.

What Callahan had previously, wrongfully assumed to be a blanket over the laps of Mike Wheeler and Dustin Henderson was, in fact, not a blanket. It was a body. A body that moved sluggishly, the owner groaning and moaning in desperate pain after raising an arm up a few inches.

“What the fuck?” Callahan had said, abandoning professionalism for the sake of wondering he’d have to charge four preteens with grand theft auto and battery.

    Summary

“You’re both telling me,” Rob says, wide-eyed, “that when you look at Winona Ryder in the shower, you see Jonathan Byers’ mom?”

“I dunno, I think Joyce could get it,” Eddie offers, and then they’re all laughing. “Though there’s only one of us here who knows. What say you,” and Eddie leans over to ogle Nancy, “like mother like—?”

Robin gets him in the ribs at the same time Steve steps on his toes. Nancy tucks her hair behind one red-tipped ear, but she’s smiling. In on the joke.

“So what exactly,” Steve repeats, louder this time, “are we watching, then?”

“Actually, I think it’s sort of romantic. Don’t you?” Nancy says over him. “Two adults in different places in their lives, different circles, drifting in and out of each other’s orbits until something brings them together and they realize their person was there the whole time? It’s almost…” She seems to be searching for the words for a moment, until she leans in to nudge Robin's side. “Well. I think it’s beautiful. What do you think, Robin?”

Robin looks back at Nancy’s entreating face. “Um. I think.” Then at Eddie, who’s got big, wild eyes, shaking his head. Then to Steve. Rob mouths a silent Help!?!

“It’s… just a movie, guys,” Steve hears himself saying, something to diffuse the spiky discomfort that’s made it into the air-conditioned air hissing in the vents. “People can like what they want. Right?”
