20 years ago, there had been a princess and prince of eternia, the twin children of king randor and queen marlena. their names were adam and adora. but one night, when marlena comes to visit the nursery, princess adora has unexpectedly disappeared, yet prince adam is still sleeping peacefully.
the king and queen of eternia do what any parents in their situation would do. they deploy search teams, they send out letters to the smaller kingdoms, they make posters with rewards for anyone who can find their missing princess, they even dare contact the surrounding planets. but adora is nowhere to be found.
21 years after the princess of eternia's mysterious disappearance, far away, on the planet of etheria, which was previously trapped in the pocket dimension of despondos, a girl named adora leads a rebellion to victory against the brutish horde prime. once the dust settles, the hero delves deeper into her past, looking for answers to the home she never knew.

after queen angella's sacrifice, princess glimmer of bright moon felt like she had lost everything she had ever known. the rebellion had lost their leader, their queen, and she had lost her mother. as the sole heir to bright moon, she ascends to the throne, and leads the rebellion in the war against the horde.
but war is complicated, and as is being a ruler. angella had always believed in glimmer's ability to lead. but to lead and to rule are two entirely separate things. as any unprepared queen does, glimmer gets lost along the way, and is at times unable to call on her friends to help her. and when she's stuck and alone, she picks up a pen and paper, and starts writing...

before leaving the horde, adora had never been scared of heights. after all, she and catra used to climb up to that spot on the roof almost every day, it was one of the highest points in the fright zone. even after leaving the horde, adora constantly travelled on swift wind, which meant she was high in the sky every day. heights didn't scare her before.
but after everything that has happened in the war, and how many times she has nearly lost catra to cliffs, or high platforms, adora develops a fear of heights (acrophobia). nightmares haunt her, where catra falls to her doom, or they both fall together, or even where she falls alone after catra leaves her in the crystal castle. adora has known nightmares her whole life. but she has never known fear like this.

after adora sees mara in the portal, something stirs in her, a mission that she knows she must fulfil. but etheria needed her, her friends needed her. the portal incident left the rebellion without a queen, and it was glimmer's time to rise to the throne. the war got darker, the horde became more ambitious, and soon most of etheria was under their control. then the heart of etheria problem arose, and adora had to save the world...even if that meant severing her connection with she-ra.
but then prime arrived. glimmer was captured, and bright moon had to be abandoned, and adora was lost, with no direction. but she had a mission, and that was to save glimmer. then the mission was to save catra. and the biggest goal of all was to save etheria. which, by the skin of her teeth, she did.
now, a year after the war, the dust has settled, and adora wants to refocus on the mission of discovering what exactly happened to mara. was she dead, or simply trapped within the space between dimensions, like queen angella? and if she was trapped, would it be possible to save her? would it be possible to save mara and angella?
'they'll be trapped between realities, possibly forever.'

when glimmer had seen adora come through the portal the horde created, she knew that etheria had been saved. whilst she knew everything was perfect in the false reality, she also recognised that it was just that- false. glimmer couldn't wait to get back home to bright moon, to see her mom and apologise for how she had left things. except, she had never got the chance.
'angella. she stayed behind.'- adora had uttered. glimmer did not think that you could feel the breaking of your own heart. it was simply an organ. but in that moment, glimmer's heart shattered like glass. what was she supposed to do now?
when adora had broke the news to glimmer, it had hit her. queen angella was gone. destiny had faced her square in the face, and yet angella had refused to believe this was adora's destiny. in faith to her queen, adora had ended up letting her down in the worse way. even worse, she had failed angella's daughter glimmer, as well as etheria. adora has never dealt with something as final as queen angella's sacrifice. she's always been the 'punch your feelings out' person. so how does she grieve?Series
