Summary
There is a ghost within the walls of the Szarr palace. Not one who was killed there, but one who was born there, created there, one who belongs to the palace as much as the palace does to his lordship, and will never be allowed to leave.
The hidden baby daughter of Cazador Szarr is pulled from her deceptively lavish captivity by the hesitant hand of a vampire spawn. Astarion comes to realize that one good thing has prospered within the palace, and Cazador wishes to hoard it for all eternity.
Cordelia is innocent, raised in a manufactured oblivion designed to keep her a child forever, and Astarion has seen every bit of her father's cruelty firsthand. He hates the tyrant blood in her veins, and she is too meek to look him in the eyes.

Summary
Gale is a former wizard prodigy searching for the perfect place to die. Simultaneously arrogant and emotionally isolated, he finds himself cursed and infected, left bloodied and penniless on the edge of nowhere. His unlikely salvation is a group of raiders: drow from Menzoberranzan with little use for maimed men or mages. Resigned to his grim fate, he's surprised to find himself spared once more on his arrival to the Underdark— this time by Minthara, a woman as clever as she is cruel, as she seeks a servant for her own mysterious ends in the City of Spiders and beyond.
An alternate universe where Gale is captured post-tadpoling, Minthara isn't a leader in the Absolute's army, but the plot of the game is still (mostly) in tact.
