“Oh, I didn’t realize… must’ve picked up the habit from Rapunzel…” Varian started to mumble. The raven-haired man just rubbed the back of his head in embarrassment, cheeks pinking. “Heh, if it annoys you so much I’ll try to stop, I guess.”

“Off chatting with your bride-to-be, I think,” Hugo says, fiddling with a knick-knack that’s probably incredibly expensive.
“Bride-to-be,” Nuru says softly, a smile growing on her face, “Stars, I’m getting married!”
“Yes, that is generally the idea of weddings.”
“Literally shut up, you’ll be just as bad when you marry Varian.”
Hugo most certainly, definitely, does not blush at this because he is a twenty-two-year-old adult who has his shit together. He does, however, decide to place the knick-knack he was holding back on the side table for non-dropping-things-while-flustered related reasons.

“Kid I am always fancy enough,” Eugene said, sounding almost offended. Varian rolled his eyes with a grin. “However, as captain of the guard, I have the ability to… dress up a little.” He stepped out into view and Varian froze.
It wasn’t that he was surprised - he had suspected this was why they had come down here in the first place. It was more the sudden wave of memories and emotions that seeing Eugene in the guard uniform brought back.
