All Pearl could do was stand there, looking at the floor with her shoulders raised in a tense, and shameful display. Her lawyer beside her, dressed in a fancy black blouse and thick horn-rimmed glasses had sighed, something akin to relief at the words of the judge.
But it was still far from good news.
"—guilty, for Involentary Manslaughter," her mind repeats, the judges voice booming and filling her with dread.
"—one year in the Inkopolis City Correctional Facility,"One year. That's it. Three hundred and sixty five days. She could handle that, right?

Marina slid down in her seat. This was not happening.
And yet, something about that phrasing left a strange ache in her chest.
After an awards show loss, Off the Hook finds itself trending for all the wrong reasons...or maybe the right ones, depending on who you ask. With their tour, sponsors, and reputations on the line, Pearl and Marina are offered one ridiculous way out:
Pretending to date each other for three months.
The only problem is... Marina has been in love with Pearl for years.
