Darius flinched at their tone, but he was nothing if not persistent. He sat cross-legged in the grass and leaned back on his hands. “I’m not going anywhere.”

Summary
'You're gonna be okay. You're gonna be okay. Just... hang on! Just...', assurances that he would be fine as he was struggling to hold on to her jacket while the ground tried to swallow him. He believed her.
After Luz and Hunter return from being inside the Emporer's mind, both of them have changed. Hunter, having learned about who he is, turns back to an old method of coping with the frightening and difficult to deal with. He's used to bottling up his emotions and dealing with his problems on his own.
But maybe this time, there will be others there to help him along the way.

People used to comment on it, before he started wearing gloves whenever he could. Once, when he was younger, maybe nine or ten, he had tripped and fallen and had grabbed onto Darius’ arm to steady himself. The coven-head (though he hadn't been one back then) had yanked his arm away with a scowl.
