A tale as old as time. Sort of.
There's a curse, and a beast who can only be returned to human form if someone learns to love all of him. There's a man who needs to learn to love, or at least that it's okay to do so. There's also a book loving beauty longing for adventure who could possibly help them both.
There's also the requisite prince though he's anything but charming. Actually, he's a bit nasally and a little derranged and has designs on our book lover who, frankly, would rather be traded for his father's life than ever marry that arsehole. A prince who would love nothing more than to be the one to take down the Kraken and his loyal first mate, especially as he fears the man he wants to marry has fallen for them both.A Beauty and the Beast, Our Flag Means Death story.

With all the loss the Doctor's experienced, he would have thought he would manage to keep his hopes and expectations low when Rose returns. She had, after all, done so with the Metacrisis, Handy - or John, as he's apparently called - as well as a mysterious interloper that evaded the Torchwood in Pete's World.
But something's off. With Rose, with Handy/John, and the whole thing that brought them over in the first place. And River's of no help, what with "Spoilers" being her only answer to anything. Which means the Doctor is inevitably going to be filled with hope that maybe, just maybe, he might be able to keep something this time.
Reality will probably break his hearts, even if it's not the way he expects it to. -

Summary
Crossing paths wasn't all that strange for Crowley and Aziraphale. It was rather odd that those paths should cross on Spanish Navy Vessel in the Caribbean during a fight. Even stranger that the reasons they were there in the first place happen to be why they crossed paths. And seemingly staying together.
It's not exactly part of the arrangement, but maybe getting one Stede Bonnet, the less-than-well-known Gentleman Pirate, and the Infamous Blackbeard who would rather just be known as Ed to, perhaps, find what they're lookiing for in each other would get Crowley and Aziraphale out of the Caribbean and back to London all the sooner.
As you can well imagine, what with how incredibly competent the angel and demon are, it does not go as planned. -

Summary
Stede and Ed - in a flash of either stupidity or genius - come up with a plan to pose as a couple for the holidays. This way, Stede could avoid being set up by Lucius as well as having to come up with a reason why his mysterious partner suddenly wouldn't make the Christmas party Lucius is hosting. It should be easy, in theory. It's only for the party, and maybe the odd time Stede and Ed are seen together in the days leading up to the event.
Except, of course, it isn't.
Because not only does this simple plan get painfully out of hand from the onset, they've been in love with each other for years. They just never told one another. And, they don't intend to.A modern day holiday romcom.

Stede Bonnet had every intention of meeting Edward Teach, just perhaps not quite like this. And Ed, he had really believed the man he'd only known as the Gentleman Pirate really had taken one look at him and decided he wasn't worth his time. It takes some time for the pair to realize who each other are, but once they do, there's nothing either of them want more than to find a way to reunite Stede's... whatever it is back with his body.
Well, Ed can think of one thing he'd want in addition to that: for Stede to remember who he is when they succeed.

Aziraphale Fell and Anthony Crowley met on a flight from New York to London and were instantly smitten with one another. But busy schedules, as well as plain stupidity, lead them to some hit and miss encounters that always feel a bit too long in between. As the calendar moves along, both begin to wonder if maybe it all means it just won't work out.
At least, that's what they think until the hit December.
