Theo steps closer. His gaze flickers down to the shape of Liam’s lips--it’s undeniable. Liam wonders if the swoop in his stomach is terror or excitement or exhausted incoherence or--all three at once.
“I guess I haven’t been very articulate about my priorities, then,” Theo says.
Liam can almost taste his breath. He chews the last bit of clementine pulp between his teeth and swallows.
“What was your dream about?”
“What?”
Theo doesn’t miss how Liam’s heartbeat goes wonky, if his sad and fleeting smile is anything to go by. “You haven’t told anyone yet about the dreams, have you?”
“Don’t see any point in it,” Liam says, and they’re close, too close to be having a ridiculous conversation like this.

Or: Liam hasn't told anyone about his nightmares and hallucinations of the Dread Doctors. He deals with them--badly--until Scott gets the pack to go on a vacation together and the truth must spill out of Liam eventually.

It is better if you read the first 2 episodes of 'Swim' first (up to Chapter 6 of the second episode anyway) but you can get away with just reading chapters 10 & 11 of Episode 1 to understand what happened between Scott and Stiles previously in this adjusted world.

Summary
It’s different this time, there’s no rain or betrayal or bloodstained wrench, but Scott knows in an instant that he’s been here before. So he says, hands trembling where they hang at his sides, “Let me see your eyes, Liam.”
Liam flinches, squeezing them shut. It makes him look young and small and Scott’s heart aches. He did this to Liam. It’s on him. He’s the one that bit him and turned him and opened him up to this world full of violence and trauma and death. And now Liam looks positively broken and that’s on Scott, too.
So he says, reaching over to lay a gentle hand on Liam’s shoulder, “You’re not in trouble. Just—let me see them. Please.”
Scott and Liam end up having more in common than either of them planned for.

For a long time after, the good days were few and far between, but eventually, Stiles didn't flinch at the word "mischief" being announced. Eventually, he could talk about her without feeling that deep ache that seemed to follow her memory.
The good days were a lot more common, bad ones rarely making an appearance. But that didn't mean they were never there.
