Those were some—but not all, of his criticisms with the novel. Then again, it was ongoing for ten years. Even when his mental issues hit an all time record all throughout the later years of middle school and the entirety of his high school experience, he stuck with it. That itself says a lot not only about the series, but Chu Wanning as a person, right?
Not like that mattered. Especially not when said man is experiencing one of lifes.. rare pleasures—bleeding out to death.

X huffs out a soft laugh despite himself. “Yes, first time. I smelled something good on my way to work.”
“Oh? Then you have good instincts,” the guy says, then leans slightly forward on his elbows like he’s about to tell him a secret. “Everything’s fresh. And I always put out the really good stuff in the early morning.”
X’s mouth opens. His brain says something stupid along the lines of ‘you're really good stuff so early in the morning’, but his mouth, blessedly, filters it into, “What do you recommend?”
The guy straightens. “Depends. What do you like?”
Cute guys with brown hair and cat pins on their aprons. X hesitates. His eyes are tracing the boy’s features, the flour on the forearms, the smile that’s a little too bright for this early in the morning and that creases beneath his eyes. He smells like vanilla and butter when X breathes in.
“Sweet,” he hears himself say instead. “Really sweet.”

Shinobu Kocho thought that she wouldn’t see Tomioka until their next joint mission or a pillar meeting. The taciturn swordsman would leave almost immediately once they ended, so one had to wonder what he was in such a rush to get to.
And apparently it was to get arrested, Shinobu mused, as she saw her fellow pillar being led away by the police, his hands bound.
Had this been the first time she had found Tomioka arrested, she may have believed this to be a misunderstanding, but this was the second time she encountered him like this. He could have easily escaped them if he wanted to, hell he could escape now if he really needed, so she could only conclude that he must actually enjoy getting captured by police.
But she supposed everyone had their hobbies.
