“Did you know that I can tell if someone’s lying?” Toph points down at her feet where they are planted flat on the ground, her knees drawn to her chest to keep them that way even as she sits. Her smile is huge and knowing. “I use earthbending to see, but I can also tell when someone’s heartrate or breathing changes, like when they lie. Trust me, I know better than anyone that Sokka isn’t lying about trusting you, and that you’re lying to me right now.”
Zuko’s eyes narrow suspiciously. “How do I know you’re not just lying to me?”
Annoyingly, Toph’s smile grows. “You don’t!”
Or:
Sokka is burned, Zuko blames himself, and does everything he can to prevent it from happening again. (He can't.)

Summary
Four years after the end of the Hundred Year War, Fire Lord Zuko has three equally important tasks in front of him. The first: celebrate the summer solstice and his coming-of-age. That means welcoming his friends from around the world and enjoying the parties. The second: run the Fire Nation. That means renegotiating several end-of-war treaties and endless boring meetings. The third: confess his love for Sokka. That means a lot of failed attempts and asking everyone for advice. Yes, everyone.

Zuko hasn't had as much energy as normal. When the Gaang gets letters from the Fire Sages that the Fire Lord has passed out during his duties everyone is worried. But Aang has Avatar duties to attend to. Katara is busy helping establish political ties between the Souther Water Tribe and the other 2 Nations, and Toph can't stand to feel the tension between the two idiots who are so obviously in love. This leaves the newly titled Southern Water Tribe Ambasador Sokka to babysit the Fire Lord.
