Summary
Through the blur of tears in his real eyes he saw the thin wires snaking through the mess of tape and film that had bound The Archivist. The wires pulled taut.
It felt like being scrubbed back through an old VHS tape, smeared and hazy freeze frames flashing before him, nothing concrete enough to put together a story, much less that it was all in the wrong order. Light and colour dancing across his vision in quick succession. The hooks in his limbs pulled at his skin in a way that would've been painful, if The Archivist could feel anything. Distantly, he remembered the wires and hooks of the Web's theatre, poor Francis and a million others made to dance and drink for the Spider's delight.
Pulled along the Web's strings once more, then, The Archivist thought, though he felt far from even his own mind. Played out my lead role in its mess of a show perfectly.

“What's wrong, chère?” he’d purred, those long legs shifting open just the slightest. “Cat gotcha tongue?”
“Remy,” she'd croaked, helpless. Somehow, he was drawing her closer, pulling her along with the barest of threads. Her feet were moving before she knew it. Her hands twitched, eager to touch him or strangle him, somewhere between the two. He drove her insane, absolutely insane.
Remy watched her approach with lazy satisfaction, one of his hands trailing down his half-bared torso, along a reddish-brown happy trail, to pluck suggestively at the waistband of his basketball shorts. His eyebrow raised as if to say, “Well?”
She pounced.
