Miles nearly spit out his iced tea at the question. “What?”
Phoenix didn’t even have the sense to look embarrassed. “Well, I never really asked when I propositioned you. It didn’t seem relevant, considering our agreement was for optics.”
“You think I was queerbaiting?” Miles gasped, scandalized.
Phoenix shrugged. “Six years ago you would have considered it tactfully advancing your career.”
“I spoke at pride events!” Miles exclaimed, drawing some dirty looks from the elderly couple in the booth across from them.
“All I’m saying is I’ve never seen you with anyone, especially not any men.”
Miles rolled his eyes at this. “Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t have any time to go on dates with handsome young pursuers while I was busy saving my husband who jumped off of a bridge!”
At 20 years old, Phoenix asks Miles Edgeworth to marry him. Fifteen years and a lot of W-2s later, they finally say their vows.

“Pancakes?” Edgeworth asks groggily.
“Maya’s favorite,” Phoenix clarifies. Yours, too, he doesn’t add.
“Mm,” Edgeworth agrees, staring at Phoenix with a look he doesn’t quite recognize. Phoenix isn't sure if it’s a symptom of just waking up, but Edgeworth's features have none of the usual tenseness to them. He's all soft edges and relaxed shoulders as he indulges in a plate of strawberry pancakes and a cup of joe.
They eat in comfortable silence. Maya has politely refrained from asking why Edgeworth is joining them for breakfast, and every time Pearls starts to, Maya manages to change the subject.

It didnt occur to me until reading this fic that we really barely, if ever, see Klavier and Phoenix interact post AA-4. This fic masquerades as a klapollo fic when in reality, it’s an experiment in what it would mean for Klavier and Phoenix to breach their 7 years of angst. I loved it so much.

Wherein Zoro and Sanji are both incredibly stupid, but it gives their friends an excuse to make fun of both of them. How long can their resolutions last?

I really love sex in fics when it feels like it’s plot-necessary and not just there as a service to the audience and this captures that very well. The physical intimacy is necessary for the emotional intimacy. Peak zosan characterization.

The realization of how desperately Felix wants to see Sylvain in this moment, right now, as he's bruising his shoulder against yet another unmovable door, how much he needs to find him breathing, needs to find him here, needs to find him unburied, hammers at the walls of Felix's awareness like it means to break them. He's been ignoring for months now, with wild success, the incoming sucker punch that is the magnitude of Sylvain’s importance to him. If he never had time for it at the Academy, he certainly didn't have time for it at war. Edelgard and her armies were bearing down. He would deal with it later. Tomorrow. Soon.
