“So where ya taking me?”
“You’ll find out.”
“But what about my outfit?” Her faces scrunches in concern as a million thoughts flash before her eyes.
“I picked it.”
“What about my hair? What if it's too much and it gets in the way?” She was wearing boho braids and although she really liked them they were not always practical, if their date was going to involve cooking.
“Your hair is perfect, baby. Just be quiet for once. Let me take care of you.” He holds her by the shoulders so she’s forced to gaze in his direction.
“Carmen.” She looks at him with her bottom lip pushed out in petulance.
“I’m serious Sydney. You are always doing so much for everyone else. You’re mine to spoil. Plus Natalie and Tina threatened me.”
They had been caught up in work lately. Not spending as much time together outside of the kitchen that they needed to in order to build a relationship that was more than just mutual interest in their work. They moved in together to pursue this more easily. But owning and running a functional kitchen took a lot out of them emotionally and physically.
