Being second was fine.
No, really. Kirishima didn't mind too much, he was used to it. He never really liked standing out. In middle school, he tried to be more outgoing, but there was nothing too special about dark black hair and a not-so-flashy hardening quirk. With the extensive amount of effort he put in, Kirishima even managed to place second during the U.A. entrance exam, and that was more than enough for him. Changing himself didn’t work either because even with red hair and a new persona, it wasn't like he suddenly became number one.
That spot belonged to Bakugou. Confident, brash, explosive. The boy who glowed so brightly to him. First at the entrance exam. First in the sports festival. First in everything.
Especially to Kirishima.

“I’m not sure.” Blue and gray eyes stayed on the noodles now being ignored on the table in front of him. The pause before his response and the volume at which it was delivered shook Eijirou. Fuck. He really doesn’t know.
