Kanda had never been kind to Allen, and despite knowing Allen wanted nothing more than to break where no one could see him, Kanda would not allow him that dignity. It was only fair, after all, that he do the same thing to Allen that Allen did to him.
Forever meddling and sacrificing and crying and never ever giving up no matter how Kanda tried, even when he’d fatally stabbed Allen and still taken all he could from him, a price too much to pay for a solace Kanda never knew he could attain.

Sometimes, fingerprints smeared the glass, making it visible to outsiders. But when those were wiped away, the box was indistinguishable from air. Maybe, if you looked at it at just the right angle, you could possibly see its glare, but most eyes just passed over it, zeroing in on who was locked inside.

"Don't worry," he said. "I won't let them touch you." But oh, they're not the ones he's afraid of.
There's no Haru, this time. No Makoto or Yusuke or Ann or Ryuji or Morgana to tell him that he's making a mistake (again) and he'll regret this (eventually) and this won't end happily (or peacefully); no, it's just him and Akechi and a list of palaces to rip through in record time. What did they call it? Thick as thieves?
