Hermione allows herself two breaths to calm down, still somewhat holding his hand. Not really holding it, but not not holding it either. Just enough holding, though, to gather another nonessential bit of intel and add it to what has become a whole catalogue of unnecessary information about Malfoy—the skin over his knuckles is a bit dry.
Gods, there is no saving her.

Summary
Wednesday enters the library and suddenly the determination she has been carrying for a week now drains from her body like blood drains from an open artery. At the back of the room, bent over a book sits Xavier Thorpe. His hair is a mess, the ponytail is doing a lousy job of keeping it together. Wednesday wonders what would happen if she walked up and pushed it out of his face. Then she wonders if she has gone insane. It is not impossible - according to statistics, one out of five psychics will go insane before reaching the age of 40.
Briefly, she considers turning around and leaving before he has spotted her. Although that would be cowardice, and Wednesday Addams is not a coward. So she breathes in, breathes out and walks up to his desk, “Hello Xavier.”

Hermione’s hand was poised above the door knob. She stood outside the small shop for several minutes before she even approached the wooden door. It was almost closing time. She watched him help a customer through the picture window for some time, hidden in the street’s dark shadows at the junction of Diagon and Knockturn Alleys. Her eyes took in the bold lettering of the store sign, The Poisoned Pen, Books and Potions, Est. 2008. She smiled at the name despite her nerves.

Summary
Seven years ago, Hermione Granger gave evidence to the Wizengamot that helped keep Draco Malfoy out of Azkaban. Six years ago they completed their final year at Hogwarts - and since then there has been no contact between them. Hermione would be perfectly happy to keep it that way, but when a dangerous Dark object threatens the life of one of her dearest friends she has no choice but to seek Malfoy out and beg for his help.
What she discovers when she finds him is not at all what she expected and now she's intrigued - intrigued and determined not to let him disappear again before she's managed to uncover his secret. A secret Draco definitely does not want her finding out.
