Summary
It seemed to be where broken chairs and old cabinets were put to think about their sins: gloomy, smelling of damp, and with the ugliest greenish carpet Alan had ever seen.
The ugly carpet was surprisingly comfortable.

Summary
Oxford, 1903.
When Edwin Courcey finds that all the books on a certain magical theory have been borrowed from Oxford's Bodleian Library by someone called Jonathon Sims, he is determined to get them back. But when a single copy of a Roman pamphlet - incriminating and highly illegal homosexual pornography - is misplaced, Edwin and Jon may come to realise they share tastes in more than just non-fiction.

Summary
The night Jonathon crosses a line, and takes a statement by force.
___________________He was so, so tired. Tired of looking over his shoulder, tired of trying, tired of pretending. Tired of the weight of loathing and loneliness crushing him. These thoughts ran like sticky, viscous tar through the man’s mind.
And Jonathon Sims allowed himself to do something he had never done before.
He let go.

So… [coughs] about that work trip to Manchester. I-I think we really need to talk about it. What happened.
***
After a work trip to Manchester turns out to be a false lead on the Stranger, Jon and Martin require a conversation. Specifically, on how this mistake happened, and why it involved a restaurant and the theatre.

Summary
At the top of a hill, shrouded in an inescapable gray that stretches for countless miles, there stands a house that has never known an owner.
He has always been here, wandering the corridors once built with the explicit purpose to contain life. To be a home. But this is not a home. A home contains life, but nobody lives here. Nobody has ever lived here. Not for as long as he can recall.
Then one day, a strange man arrives at his front step. The man swears he knows him, from a time before the house. That sounds impossible, but the man is determined to make him remember.

Summary
Climbing through the last of the steep hills, Jon finally saw his mark. There, on the edge of a rocky cliff, the lighthouse stood as a beacon through the thick fog, lighting the way for sailors making their way to the coast. Unbeknownst to it, it would also be lighting the way for Jon to finally uproot its secrets.
It's been months since Jon was forcibly taken off this case. He had been putting the pieces together regarding four missing persons who all had ties to each other, when Elias suddenly ordered Jon to abandon his research. Obviously, he’d been researching it secretly ever since. And now, he’s at the epicenter of it.
Every victim found their way here, one way or another.
-
Jon works for The Magnus Institute; an institute that studies, researches, and sometimes hunts down monsters. When Elias mysteriously tells Jon to halt a case, Jon decides to find out for himself what happened to those victims. His curiosity leads him to a secluded lighthouse - and the monster who mans it.
