Summary
Sokka’s gotten a lot of mileage out of joking that Katara is the people doctor, and he’s just the teddy bear doctor. But it’s actually pretty skillful, meticulous work, and rewarding to know how much his careful efforts bring comfort to the owners of well-loved or injured stuffed toys.

Summary
It starts innocently enough -- is it Sokka's fault if someone at the market gave him free stuff because he hinted at being the reason Zuko's been so happy lately? Absolutely not.
Is it also his fault that the rumors get out of hand almost immediately and now everyone thinks he's the Fire Lord's husband? Sure, probably, but so long as he's getting free dumplings out of it, he can continue to ignore the little voice in his head that questions why he's so keen on letting the whole world think he's married to Zuko when they're not even in a real relationship.

Sokka laid on his bed and stared at the ceiling and clutched his phone to his chest and couldn’t stop grinning.
He whispered the word astounding to the ceiling, and the ceiling said nothing back.
He wished he could make the word sound the same as it had when Zuko had said it.
You are astounding.
He felt like a middle school girl with a crush.
Fuck it. May as well lean into the character. Sokka flipped onto his stomach, kicked his feet up, and screamed into a pillow.
Sokka pulled his head out of the pillow, opened his phone, and Merriam-Webstered astounding. He knew what it meant, but he needed to inject it into his very bloodstream. He had to get linguistic with that shit.
Or: Two idiots fall in love and yearn.

“Let’s start with name, class year, pronouns if you’d like, and … if you were a coffee, what drink you would be. Don’t think about it too hard!” Suki’s gaze lands on Zuko. Zuko is going to die and haunt Ty Lee from the afterlife forever. “Why don’t we start with you?”
Zuko looks at the other four new employees, who now don’t really have a reason to politely avoid glancing at his scar. “Uh. Zuko, here,” he begins, his hand raising in an awkward wave that he immediately snaps down to his side. “I’m a transfer student. Um, second semester sophomore, I guess. And I’d be … drip coffee. Black.”
He blinks. Five sets of eyes blink back at him.

When Zuko transfers schools halfway through his undergrad years, Ty Lee convinces him to work at the same student-run cafe as her. He expects to do his job, get to know a couple coworkers, and maybe memorize some of the regulars’ orders. What he doesn’t expect is the physics major with endless conversation and a concerning penchant for red eyes.
