Summary
Nicholas ponders at the possibilities of dinner. Despite the initial options, most restaurants are closed, including the Chinese noodle shop that he frequents with Maki. He was really hoping to get cumin lamb noodles.
He lets out a defeated sigh. He just wants to eat his dinner and if he's lucky, maybe get his hands on some energy drinks to power him through the night. He's not asking for much.
As he turns another corner, ready to head back and curl into his bed malnourished and cold, warm light hits the pavement from a shop.
Salvation! He sees it in his mind's eye, like a beggar receiving moldy bread in his bowl.
"Hello, how many?"

Summary
That's how he finds himself at a vet's office on a Thursday evening. Shota is sitting next to him with the cardboard box on his lap as he gently touches the puppy's ears. There's not a lot of people — in fact, the room is empty except for Intak and Shota, but he suspects there's only one vet in the whole clinic based on its small, compact layout, unless they've managed to harness some Narnia-esque technology and fit more offices behind one door with peeling paint.
"You guys can come in now," someone calls out from behind the door. Shota shoots up and walks as quickly as his seven-year-old legs will allow him to without jostling the puppy too much, and Intak follows closely behind.
Shota's already reaching up to place the box on the table when Intak turns to close the door behind them, and as he does, he hears a voice decidedly younger than he'd expected saying lightly, "Who do we have here, lil' guy?"
"I found him on the side of the road," Shota explains seriously. Intak turns around and immediately freezes as he's met with the most attractive man he's ever seen in his life.

He feels his chest tightening again and he pushes his chair back. When the space is enough for him to stand up, he stands, stretching his arms over his head and trying to understand why a nickname that Nicholas made for him should be included in a speech at his wedding.
Euijoo tears the page out, crumples it in his fist and throws it inside the bin. It joins the rest of its friends—mostly empty papers with good evening everyone in Mandarin written on it—inside the metal bin beside his desk, a growing graveyard of half-truths and incriminating sentences. Phrases that should never be spoken out loud.-
