"Grace isn't an idiot. He knows Driver's past is muddy. He knows Driver can look after himself and has surely done terrible things to do it. Was probably taught terrible things from a very young age, while Grace's parents were teaching him how to build sand castles and swim.
But it's just a weekend. And Grace had asked once, weeks ago, if he still has to worry about the sorts of things Driver gets involved with, and Driver had told him no.
And Grace believed him.
Clearly, that was his first mistake."While Grace goes away for the weekend with Colt and Jody, Driver falls back into old habits. Grace is furious when he gets back — but failed to account for exactly how afraid Driver would be in the face of an angry man.

Summary
Driver keeps running into his next door neighbor, a teacher at the nearby middle school. One night he notices his neighbor being upset, despite not wanting to get personally involved in other's lives again, he asks what's troubling him. A quick introduction ensues but the teacher leaves to answer a phone call. Finding himself intrigued, Driver stays up to make sure the teacher returns home safe. After that encounter they keep bumping into each other with Driver struggling to not get attached and fall for one of his neighbors. Again.
