I started this fic before Shiro's sexuality was addressed; when asked, it was left open to interpretation for inclusion/rep purposes. Instead of scrapping months of work, I chose to put some positive bi-guy rep into the world by writing Shiro as bisexual. Bi guys get erased or shamed constantly, and I can't stand it. My Shiro is the strong, sexy, responsible leader we all love, who happens to be into more than one gender. After seeing the last two seasons of VLD, I'm more committed than ever to give his relationships (I LOVE ADASHI) the respect they didn't get from the show.

Halsin reached to touch her face, but stopped and pulled away. His eyes looked sad, even pained.
“As much as it hurts me to turn you down…I think I should not be your first.”
“Why?”
He hesitated, also clearly struggling for the words.
“Druids…those of us who wild shape often…we take on aspects of the personality of the shape we take most often.” He paused for a long moment. “Cave bears…are viscous. Aggressive. I…cannot always control it. And you don’t have the experience to know where your own boundaries are.”
Tav sat quietly for a moment, thinking. She and Halsin had only been traveling together for a few weeks, but she had seen his strength even in elf form. She had watched him enrage, ripping a goblin into pieces, just that day. She met hit eyes, steady, then stood and took a step towards him.
“I will not let you hurt me,” she whispered in Elvish.
