It's obvious to pretty much everyone at Blackwell that Nathan Prescott is not well. What isn't obvious is what he's trying so hard to hide - Max has to admit, he does a good job of that.
She can repeat it as much as she wants, but telling him to get help is not working. Committing to helping the rich kid isn't what she came to Blackwell for, and never what she intended to do at the start of the year, but even though she doesn't know it yet, she can single-handedly prevent much worse things.
All by taking the time to ask about his scars.

She bobs her hair and shortens her skirts and keeps her ears open, determined not to be kept in the dark anymore, but she never forgets what Rosalina told her about love.
A Julie-centered prequel to Soon, We'll Be Without the Moon, converging to the same point. It's probably best to read that one first. (Like that story, this contains some implied homophobia, and very very faint hints of a pre-OT3. Julie and Tebaldo are of course cousins.)

A re-imagining alternate Universe of the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy in 8 stories, The Saga chronicles the adventures of various characters like Obi-wan Kenobi, Asajj, Ventress, Barriss Offee, Count Dooku, General Grievous, and many others.
This Saga was written in 2005-2010, before the Clone Wars TV show, and so there is little connection to the plots and characters of the series except through sheer coincidence.
