“Another day then, tomorrow? Or Saturday, I can do Saturday, I’ll give you my number,” Hunter says, starting to reach for Henry’s phone. Henry knocks it off the table and prays it doesn’t crack.
Christ. Is he going to have to leave the coffee shop to get rid of Hunter? He bends down to pick his phone up and when he rights himself, Hunter is waiting expectantly with his hand out for Henry’s phone. He drops it into his bag under the table.
“Very kind of you Hunter, but I’m really quite booked up and—"“Sorry I’m late, sweetheart,” comes a drawl Henry vaguely recognises.
OR
Henry is quietly minding his own business in his favourite coffee shop, when he’s rudely interrupted by an insufferable man attempting to flirt with him. He’s rescued by none other than Alex – a fellow cafe regular who he’s long admired from a distance – posing as his date.

The low light of the bar makes it easy to relax. There's a soft hum of chatter and a steady beat to the music that isn't overwhelming. It's easy; smooth dark wood and strings of multi-coloured lights with posters of pieces of history on the walls – pictures from Stonewall, Harvey Milk sitting on the top of a car riding through San Francisco; a poster of Bowie sits one wall next to Freddie Mercury against exposed brick. It’s comforting, safe.
He doesn't even realise that the brightly dressed bartender has disappeared and been replaced by someone else until he looks back again to see a small woman with black hair in a plaid shirt. Behind her, the blonde guy, who is no longer looking down at his notebook, but looking right across the bar, at Alex.

It takes Alec a moment to really notice.
At first, he’s too aware of everything else. Of Luke bleeding out on Magnus’ sofa, seconds from death. Of the tiredness in Magnus’ eyes as he looks at Alec careening into the room to help. Of the tug inside him as Magnus takes the strength Alec is offering, pulling from a reserve deep inside him that Alec didn’t realise existed.
Only after he’s sure that Luke is going to be okay, only after the magic has dissipated and Alec’s strength is no longer fuelling Magnus, does he realise.
He’s holding Magnus’ hand.
In which Alec really wants a hug, Magnus really wants to give Alec a hug, and feelings are had.
