Morax hummed, sipping their tea. “Monitoring my sleep schedule—I have a terrible habit of sleeping too long—reminding me to eat. Small things that I may overlook,” they explained.
It was a lot that Morax was asking of Xiao, but he was so willing to serve and obey. Xiao nodded, his hands folded in his lap. “If my lord thinks I may be of some assistance, I see no reason why I should refuse.”
Lord Morax has finally awoken from their hibernation. The Lord of Geo asks Xiao personally to assist them and help the Archon adjust to normalcy once again.
Everything will be fine. At least, Xiao hopes.

Morax raised his eyebrows and glanced meaningfully at Xiao's memory box. "That was a very romantic letter."
Immediate disdain and disbelief flooded Xiao's chest. He scoffed and pulled his hand back. Then he shook his head at Morax, fixing him with a stern, disapproving frown.
"Stop sullying my letters with your degenerate mind. You're the one who told me I should be honest with my friends."
"Oh, and you honestly love her?"
"Morax, you know I don't like when you tease me."
The archon grinned. "I'm sorry."
"You are not."
Xiao has spent six years dutifully sending Lumine letters for his birthday. When Rex Lapis reads one of these letters, Xiao becomes painfully aware that they are full of romantic subtext that he did not intend.
After enduring (affectionate) mockery from both the archon and adepti, Xiao must face something even worse: Lumine's reaction.

The day Xiao learns that Morax is dead, the sky over Jueyun Karst and Dihua Marsh opens up a gray hole and pours. The raindrops are cold, cold, and too cold, splattering on his arms and dripping down his hair and face.
Xiao's sky is held up by two pillars. One is his oath to Morax, and the other is Morax himself. With Morax gone, half his sky falls. The words hidden at the bottom of his heart are buried under the rubble, until they are unearthed by Zhongli.
