Diluc doesn’t respond, which is normal—in fact, he doesn’t react at all, leaning on the handle of his claymore with a long breath. That’s…less normal, to Kaeya at least, who can usually read the slightest of expressions on the man’s face. But there’s nothing there now; no sign that Diluc even heard him as he slumps slightly, head hanging forward between his shoulders.
Kaeya frowns.
“Master Diluc…?”Or: Diluc deals with his insomnia by overworking and undersleeping, which works out very well and fine for everyone involved.

“Trust me,” he says, crossing his arms and cocking his hip, “that’s not a fight you want to be picking with me.”
Satoru scoffs and rolls his eyes.
“Oh, please. Don’t tell me you’re one of those guys that brags about being bigger than he actually is.”
“First of all, what the hell kind of guy do you mean, you don’t hang out with anyone but me. Second, you’re the one who brought it up. I just corrected you on something you’re objectively wrong about.”
“The hell do you mean objectively wrong?” he spits, stalking up close and jamming his finger into Suguru’s chest. “What, you’re just so fucking confident? You have something you want to say to me?”
He doesn’t—in fact, Satoru’s outburst has pretty much pushed any smart comment he may have had from his mind. He looks genuinely angry, not that pouting, hyperbolic rage he pulls out when he doesn’t get his way. All Suguru can do is gape at him as he stares at Suguru with something wild in his eyes he’s never seen from him before.
Suguru finds out something about Satoru he never would've expected. He proceeds to have a crisis about it.

“What’s it feel like?”
Suguru peeks an eye open; Satoru just keeps watching him, cataloguing his expression to search for any more signs of pain.
“Hurts a lot,” he says after a few moments, voice slightly hoarse. “Right here.”
He presses harder into his abdomen, rubbing his thumb up and down his sternum like he’s trying to self-soothe.
“It feels like there’s a hole,” he rasps. “Like a gaping wound that’s rotting at the edges. It feels like something’s eating me from the inside out.”
Satoru returns from a mission to find his best friend in a sorry state. Naturally, he has to fix it. But what exactly is it? Injury from a curse? Effects from his technique? Or something entirely different?

A couple of small donations come in at once, tearing Suguru’s eyes away from the drawing to read the names. His view count has shot up by almost a hundred; he always gets more engagement when Satoru is on call with him. Not that that sort of thing really matters to him, but it is a little funny, and he can’t help but smile ironically and shake his head to himself.
Suguru is a part-time tattoo artist (per his own wishes) and part-time streamer (per Satoru's). Satoru's choice of career is anything but surprising, being a full time content creator, broadcasting himself to tens of thousands of people almost every day. They live together, work together, and know almost everything about each other.

“You break up with her this time? Or another one break up with you?” Geto asked, far too used to this scenario to beat around the bush. He had been lounging on his bed, getting ready to go to sleep, but sat up.
“Fuck off,” Gojo said. He pushed up his glasses and rubbed at his eyes with the cuff of his jacket.
Geto shrugged. “We can act like she died to a curse or something if you want.”
