Nightingale is talking to another barista who just emerged from the back rooms, a goddess of a woman with bright pink hair pulled into a ponytail that threatens to burst the scrunchie that’s holding it and several piercings in her face and ears, who is tightening her apron in a way that shows off every muscle in her arms. Elle takes a moment to realize she’s fully staring and reverts her gaze back to her laptop screen, blushing furiously. She goes back to her email inbox and stares blankly at her cursor for several minutes before she’s realizing there’s a shadow cast over her.
She looks up only to make direct eye contact with the barista, who’s looking at her with, if she didn’t know better, a devious twinkle in her green eyes.
