“We are in agreement,” House replied. His voice was formal to an obscene degree and his eyes flashed in a way that Wilson would recognize better on a striking cobra. “That decided, I would welcome a reprise as soon as next week. Be so good as to join me.”
Admiring how his civil hand had been forced to serve House rather than thwart his behavior, he bowed appropriately.
“As you say.”
On the ride home, it ceased to bother him: the cause or duration of House’s regard. Though eccentric, he was certainly the most interesting person that Wilson had met as of yet, and a man of medicine was rarer still. If their communions continued, he dared to think he would make a friend.

Predictably, Gideon ignored her. Instead, she slouched even harder and more bonelessly against the doorframe and held her hand to her face in an upsettingly decent imitation of the thinking emoji. “Ortus again?” she asked eventually, her tone carefully pruned of all discernible emotion.
“I take my role as senior resident of these halls of accommodation very seriously, as you well know, and it is my duty to investigate all complaints promptly and vigorously while protecting the anonymity of the complainant,” said Harrow officiously. “But yes, it was Ortus, because he is a big girl’s blouse.”
