With the five year war finally over, peace has returned to Fodlan.

Despite Dimitri's love for his professor, he believes it is his duty to have a queen by his side and continue the Blaiddyd line, so he parts from him. A year later, after reluctantly choosing a bride, he sends the ceremonial letter to the new archbishop requesting him to officiate the royal wedding. When Byleth rejects, Dimitri heads to Garreg Mach to find out why.
