    Summary

"Then s'pose I was mistaken for your wife," Henry swallows, every word a rock, difficult in it's truth, "and you had me in your bed."

Hans manages to collect the half-baked thought, form it before he can regret it. "I'd perform my duties as a lord should, of course."

"'n one of your duties as a lord— as my lord— " and Henry has to bite down a smile at Hans' groan, the sound of him already lost, "is to provide heirs, ain't it?"

"The most important one, I'd say." A touch so soft he could've imagined it, a palm lightly cupping his stomach. Henry relaxes his body. "And I am, above all," small circles above his navel, petting, "ever so dutiful."

In the space between battle and obligation, Hans and Henry craft a life for themselves.

    Summary

"I'll be sure to still my tongue around you, my lord," he lets the lord drag out for longer than it should, lets it roll on his tongue along with the wine, then Hans is righting himself, leaving, "wouldn't want to end up in the pillory again, would we?"

Hans is wonderfully red with contained anger. He wants to press his palm into the flushed skin of his neck, see how the colours flex and change.

"Leave it be, Henry, for fuck's sake—"

"Not until I have a go," he says, and it's desperate, humiliating, the bitterness in him creating an ugly mix that makes his cheeks burn. "It wouldn't be a celebration if I didn't get to knock you on your arse."

Amidst the Semine wedding celebrations, Hans and Henry go a round.

    Summary

Dozens of people have touched him this way, from nursemaids to bathhouse girls. Hell, he was manhandled bare-arsed into a tub only moments ago without so much as blinking. There’s no reason for Henry’s touch to feel like this. To make Hans feel like this. But it’s nice, God, it’s nice, Henry’s big blacksmith’s mitts impossibly gentle as he loosens the blood from Hans’s hair.

For the first time since taking that decoction, his heart kicks in his chest, hard enough that his pulse jumps noticeably under his neck.

    And elsewhere.

    Summary

He killed for me. Hans thinks, watching Henry pocket the severed ear wrapped in yellow silk. Behind them, bodies cool in the clearing. Ahead, miles of forest and the long road to Rattay. Between them—something neither of them dares name, twisted together like rope and blood and the weight of a trophy pressed close.

They have miles yet to go.

    Summary

Birdie of Pirkstein is nothing like a hare. He never thinks of dying; he has no need for dark, snug spaces; he flits in the sun and grins with his big teeth and rips his joy to bloody shreds.

Only a hare, of course, knows what it means to be ripped apart.

A brief study of grief recovery and of two opposing shades of loneliness, as presented in Henry's loss anxiety and Hans's claustrophobia. Also, how to love as one when you love very differently. KCD1 & KCD2 vignettes, one shot.

Absolutely lovesick, like enough to hurl.
