Summary
Eddie moves back to El Paso to fix things with his son. What he doesn’t expect is to find himself — in quiet mornings, in half-renovated walls, in old guitar strings, and in the way Buck's voice sounds over the phone late at night.
Long-distance texts turn into calls. Calls turn into songs. And somewhere between drywall and dawn, Eddie starts writing about Buck.
A story told through seasons, silences, and the songs Eddie doesn’t have the courage to send — until maybe he does.
OR- Eddie leaves Los Angeles, but everything keeps leading back to Buck.

Summary
“Told you I’m easy to leave,” Buck says, chuckling.
And it’s supposed to be a joke, but it doesn’t quite hit right because it’s also true. Buck is the easiest person in the world to walk away from, even when he’s doing absolutely everything right.

Summary
Years unfurled gently: birthdays, burnt pancakes, lazy Sunday mornings. Eddie’s hair silvered first; Buck’s knees started cracking when he knelt to tie their daughter’s shoes. There were bad days, of course—arguments, grief, the quiet exhaustion that comes with living—but every morning, Buck would roll over, find Eddie beside him, and it would still feel like winning.
Then one evening, in the middle of a conversation about nothing, Buck noticed the lamp on the nightstand was wrong. The base was supposed to be brushed steel—but now it was glass. The shade cast the wrong color light.
He frowned. Blinked once.
And woke up.
OR: Buck grows old with Eddie—twenty years of everything he ever wanted—and then wakes up to find it was all a cruel coma dream + epilogue.

Summary
Buck slowly drags himself up on dirtied fingers, standing on his uninjured foot. He lets out a low and soft whine of pain, feeling more blood gushing out as the metal digs into even more skin, puncturing deeper than before. Everything spins as he tries desperately to pull himself free. No matter how much he struggles, Buck finds himself unable to move. He can’t even scream from the pain because that’s been taken away from him. Everything has.
Buck goes on a solo run and gets more than he bargained for.

Summary
“Okay,” Chim said, voice rough but steady. “That’s it. It’s down. Everyone in one piece?”
“Good here,” Ravi said, brushing dust off his jacket.
“Same,” Harry added.
“Yep,” Eddie said with a short, sarcastic laugh. “And you called me ridiculous for not trusting technology. Guess I was right all along, huh?”
He waited for the usual comeback, the snort, the eye-roll, something from Buck to break the tension.
But all that came back was a wet, choking gurgle.
Snapping his attention to the source, Eddie saw Buck leaning against the wall, hands gripping his throat, blood seeping through his fingers.
Eddie froze.
or the one where Buck doesn't escape from the robots completely unscathed. (9x02 coda)
