Summary
After Hawkins split open in fissures exposing the Upside Down, the Byers find themselves stuck in the town after their Spring break visit. Military occupies Hawkins, heavily restricting who goes in and out. The Wheelers have graciously allowed the houseless Byers to lodge with them for the time being, much to Will's mortification, for he couldn't reconcile with his feelings for Mike.
OR
Will starts smoking to cope with Mike avoiding him while Mike basically stalks Will.
(Set in the SIXTH month of the 18-month time skip before S5, fall of 1986. The party are mostly 15 turning 16, while Robin, Steve and Jonathan are 19 turning 20)

The demogorgons elevate higher, their bones snap, and they fall to the ground dead. Will had managed to kill three demogorgons at once. He falls on his knees. Mike and Joyce both look at him in awe. Will feels blood dripping down from his eyes.
Mike runs to him, kneels down to his level, and hugs him. “You’re a sorcerer! A real-life, honest-to-God sorcerer! You did it! You really did it!”
