He burst into the kitchen, where he saw Hydra on the floor, picking up pieces of a broken bowl on the floor.
He was now muttering the word no under his breath when Lumber bent down beside him. “Hey, Hy? What happened?”
Hydra looked over at him, eyes wide with shock. “I dropped a bowl while doing the dishes- Mommas gonna be so mad, she uses this bowl a lot.”

Or, Hydra accidentally breaks one of Mommas bowls while cleaning, and Lumber is left to pick up the pieces, both literally and metaphorically.

Leaving studying until the last minute is always a bad idea, study sessions are even worse.
Add in somebody drunk, somebody who's drank way too much caffeine, somebody mourning the loss of their old dog, somebody who's only learning about some of this history for the very first time and somebody who always seems to go along with what everybody else is doing no matter how ridiculous it is makes a disaster.
There are many possible endings to a disaster, but Jack couldn't have even imagine this one.

“You okay?” he asked, tapping him lightly on the wrist.
“Grantaire,” he sounded distinctly choked.
“Yes.”
“Grantaire.”
“Yes, it’s me.”
He turned impossibly wide eyes on him, and in that moment, he understood - this wasn’t just a fear - this was a genuine terror for the blonde. Grantaire tried to think of ways in which he could make this better. Enjolras probably wished he were beside anybody else right now. The silence registered in his mind, and he hurriedly started up again.
“Did you know, that a racing pigeon could get from here to Nice in the time it takes for this flight to get to London?"

It was just a scratch, a dent at worse, that’s what Hydra kept telling himself, there was no way it was as bad as Rusty was making it seem, but the Engine wouldn’t stop crying, he’d thrown himself off the track and as far from Hydra as he could get on his shaking wheels, which had only been a few meters.
