Tadashi felt a chill to his right. It came in the form of a 190-centimeter tall man with short, blond hair and thick, black glasses. Well, the height was a guesstimate, but based on how his legs stretched under the lab counter, he couldn’t be far off.
Not that Tadashi was paying attention to his legs or anything.

He began tugging Kei’s arm back and forth. “Piiii-kaaa-chuuuu,” he mimicked in a high-pitched voice. “I’ve been waiting my entire life for this!”
It was dramatic, but Kei did believe him. Today was about celebrating this childhood love of a game that carried into adulthood. Yamaguchi measured height in Pikachus and slept with a plethora of plushies at home, which by extension, meant Kei did too. They still had the plush that Kei’s mom bought Yamaguchi for the first birthday they celebrated as friends. She had said it was Kei’s idea, and though Kei denied it, he’s sure that even child Yamaguchi didn’t believe him.

“Seiya-san, we don’t know who this man is. He’s not a part of our team—” started the bodyguard, before he was interrupted.
Seiya pulled his mask down and looked pointedly at Hajime. “Do you know me?”
Hajime paused. Could he really claim that anymore? It had been years, a lifetime ago for someone who’d become an idol. But then Seiya, waiting patiently for his answer, cocked his head, narrowed his eyes ever-so-slightly, all of it devastatingly familiar, and Hajime let out a breath. “Of course I do. It’s been a while, Oikawa.”
Iwaizumi Hajime doesn't know where his life is going. A few years out of college and already burnt out by his dead-end corporate job, he travels back to Japan searching for...something. Yamaguchi has a secret admirer. For months now, he's been finding love letters and gifts tucked into his school bag, sitting on top of his shoes in his locker, or left in his cubby in the club room. All clues point towards one of his teammates. . . But which one?
When a ferocious storm leaves the entire volleyball club stuck overnight in the training camp lodge without electricity, Yamaguchi decides that this is the perfect opportunity to solve the mystery. He enlists Tsukki, the smartest person he knows, to act as a detective and help him get to the bottom of this once and for all.
But everything is not as it seems, and it quickly becomes apparent that everyone on the team has a secret they don't want the sleuthing duo to dig up.

"Like what if some guy asks me out and we go on all these dates and he finally kisses me, but it turns out I really don’t like it! That would be so awkward!”
“I don’t think it works that way,” Tsukki responded simply.
“But you don’t know because you’ve never actually kissed anyone! What if it does work that way?”
Tsukki pinched the bridge of his nose and Tadashi knew that he was beginning to get to the end of his wits with this conversation. “Why don’t you just kiss some guys and some girls and make a list comparing how you feel or something,” he drawled.
It was such a Tsukki answer that Tadashi had to laugh. Just organize your feelings into a list. Of course.
Although, he had to admit, it wasn’t a terrible concept.

Tsukishima and Yamaguchi are just friends, until Yamaguchi manages to drag Tsukki into a pseudo-scientific kissing research project and things begin to change.

Summary
Tadashi ends up bringing him dinner in the bedroom, testing the office chair’s durability by fitting himself on Kei’s lap. “You could get some inspiration from the internet,” he mumbles, watching the cursor on the screen blinking against a blank document.
“The internet didn’t go through the painful torture of watching the dumbest mating ritual of the animal kingdom,” he grumbles. Tadashi’s chuckle tickles Kei’s neck, a huff of hot breath warming him to his core. If Kageyama and Hinata feel even half of this for each other —and he thinks they do— Kei owes them a nice fucking speech.
After all, he had witnessed their weird courtship from the front row. Who better than him to tell the world about just how much those two idiots were meant for each other?
