Because we all wanted the Solitract to take on the form of someone the Doctor loved. Or, in this case, damn near everyone she's ever cared about.
I tried to include as many companions as possible in this alternate take on the Doctor and the Solitract being left alone in the other universe.
The Doctor is forced to remember in order to share the universe with the Solitract.
