'No music is worth making if we’re not making it with you.'
Julie still couldn’t believe those words had actually passed Luke’s lips.
Luke, out of all people. Who lived and breathed music with every fiber of his soul.
“And for a second I sort of forgot they were ghosts.” That was the only way Julie could explain why she had launched herself at Luke like that. For a moment, she had forgotten that he wasn’t supposed to be able to catch her.
“I hugged Luke”, she said and felt Flynn’s eyes grow wide in surprise.
“Like, physically?” she asked. And in any other situation, that would have been a ridiculous question. Now, Julie just nodded.
“I could touch him. And not just him, all of them. And when we hugged this thing left them.”
“Hopefully it wasn’t their souls.”
or: Julie saved the boys. The music lives on. Everything should be fine.
But then she starts seeing more than her ghost band. Classmates she's never seen before. Crowded hallways. People in her home-people, no one else can see.
Turns out Caleb's curse left a mark.
And not all ghosts want to be her friends. -

Summary
There is a door in Julie’s head. She isn’t sure whether she put it there or if it arrived all on its own, whether it came together gradually or all at once. She wasn’t paying attention at the time.
But there is a door in Julie’s head and it’s locked.
In the end, she doesn't need a key to open it. Just a dead boy who crashes into her life, her heart, and the door inside Julie's head.

The casual touch knifes right between Luke’s ribs and straight into his heart. Neither of his parents are overly affectionate people. Perhaps they were when he was younger, but those memories are fuzzy and distant, and it doesn't change the fact that his parents haven't offered him affection like that in years.
And it hurts to see what he’s missing, to know what it looks like to belong and realize how painfully he doesn’t, that there’s likely nowhere he ever will unless it’s with Alex and Reggie. He’s the problem.After a horrible fight with his parents, Luke decides to leave home. But when problems arise while staying with Alex and Reggie, Luke has nowhere to go. Enter Julie Molina, a girl Luke has had a crush on for at least a year, and quite literally runs into. A girl who somehow manages to save him, and give him a place he can call home.

Summary
The hours were great, mostly daytime shifts when no one was there, leaving his nights wide open to pilot Sunset Curve to greatness. The manager, a woman in her late-twenties named Lessa, had even managed to secure jobs for both Alex and Reggie within three days of Luke working there. They got discounts on everything, even though Luke mostly used his to fuel his Diet Coke addiction, and for the most part they got to interact with some pretty interesting people.
So yeah, Luke already liked his job a lot, and his parents had even timidly offered apologies after he had come to a monthly dinner bragging that he had been promoted to daytime supervisor. And then, he met her.---

It was looks like those that made it hard for Julie to remember they were actually just friends. It’s not that they didn’t know the connection was there—they spent too much time writing songs with one another for that— but it just... never happened. They had always just let the moments pass, and then it became what their dynamic was. To be honest, Julie wasn’t quite sure why. Sometimes it was safer to yearn, she supposed.
Or: The band decides to move to upstate New York to write their next album. Luke and Julie realize maybe the move is just the final push they needed.
