Bookmarker's Notes
A beautifully written piece about life, friendship and growing up. The story is very carefully plotted, each scene precisely arranged to reveal nuanced depth about each character, and their relationship with each other. What I really like about it is the maturity and realism (both the hope and heartbreak in life is revealed unflinchingly here) — very rare in a fic.

When Riko hits puberty, it is both embarrassing as hell and wildly exciting when her feelings begin to change, towards her stupid middle school mates.
It began shortly after Riko’s fourteenth birthday. Izuki-kun had approached her and Hyuuga-kun as they walked into the school. He beamed, his usual greeting of “Fine morning to find you guys here!” inviting Hyuuga-kun’s daily whack upside his head. But then, he turned to Riko, and added, “Aida-san, Ai dare say your Rikommendation for that training exercise was great! I tried it out yesterday.” And, looking up at him, all bright smiles and peppy thumbs up, Riko’s heart suddenly thumped.
