Summary
“Bee,” a little voice calls, smacking the mattress in front of where her face is and she’s awake quickly. Adrenaline runs through her body. The boys have never woken her up. She is immediately sitting up and reaching for the light. She’s not entirely sure which one of them is in front of her.
“Andrew’s crying real bad,” Aaron says, his voice wavering.
Andrew’s been off recently. He’s been getting increasingly quieter since the start of school and this week he’s been almost entirely non-verbal. He’s been clingy, grasping onto Bee’s hand the moment he gets off the bus and he follows her around like a shadow through the house. He’s not sleeping well, he hasn’t been eating well, and Bee’s been finding him in Aaron’s bed more often when she wakes them up in the morning. She’s been getting notes home about Andrew running away from his classroom and flinching away from Mr. Hemmick and Mr. Hall - his classroom teacher and gym teacher respectively. He’s been sneaking into Aaron’s classroom and on one occasion, the two tried to switch places.
And now Aaron, who has never stepped foot into her bedroom in his two years of living here is waking her up in the middle of the night.

Summary
Several things happen seemingly in slow motion but also all at once.
The temple falls, a horrible orchestra of crunching, shattering glass, splintering wood, and very faintly, a harsh snap.
Jin Ling whimpers then wails, his cries muffled by Jiang Cheng pulling his nephew closer to him.
Lan Xichen stands there. Eyes wide and horrified and empty and watching. The sound of his knees hitting the stone beneath them echoes through the courtyard.
Lan Wangji laces his fingers through Wei Wuxian’s. It’s done. Wei Wuxian is here. Lan Wangji was never wrong.
Nie Huaisang whispers a quiet, unbelieving, “Oh my god.”

Summary
TK Strand and Carlos Reyes spent years thinking they didn’t deserve happiness, or even a future. But they did – they always did – and now they have it with each other, they can make sure TK’s little brother has a happy future too.
Jonah frowns up at Carlos, sensing his shift in mood, but Carlos grins at him, which means everything is okay. Jonah mimics the grin in the mirror. “Will my teeth be as big as yours one day, Cawlos?”
This gets a loud laugh out of him. “One day, yes,” Carlos says.
Jonah giggles but he’s not sure he’s fully comfortable with the idea. They are awfully large.
Carlos notices that Jonah’s little backpack isn’t fully zipped up, so he zips it.
“Thank you,” Jonah says perfectly.
It makes Carlos ache. Jonah’s speech is coming along beautifully, but for some reason he still remains Cawlos Weyes. Soon, that will fade too, and he will be Carlos Reyes. He’ll nearly cry at his desk when he tells Sam that Jonah can properly pronounce his Rs and THs now.
“Don’t worry, brother, I understand,” Sam ‘Four Kids’ Campbell will say, making a big, loud thing about passing him a box of Kleenex.Series

“I’ll get it out of you at the airport," TK says, throwing open the passenger door, dumping his bag at his feet, and climbing in.
Which is when the gun comes into view.
The gun pressed to the back of Carlos’ head.
And the masked man holding it.
TK’s shoulders go up around his ears as his whole body reacts to the shock of it. “What–”
Before he can make any rational response, there’s a cloth over his mouth. A cloth that stinks of chemicals. The hand that presses it over his face is strong and merciless, smothering him. The fumes hit his vision in an instant and he slumps into his chair, the blue fabric over his eyes dissolving into a shimmering mass that reminds him spitefully of the Spanish sea they won’t be getting to see.---
TK and Carlos are held hostage on the way to their honeymoon by a mysterious man who wants information he will get at any cost to Carlos--and which TK can't provide.

Summary
"The building smelled of rot and bleach.
Carlos would remember that later. He will think about how those two things should not exist together, and yet somehow, here, they do. They both burn into his lungs at a rapid pace when the door is slammed open and again and again with each ragged breath he takes running down the hallway, stale and uncomfortable.
Clean and rotten.
Sterile and dying.
No, they should not be co-existing here. But, to be fair, Carlos should not have to be running down a hallway with his father and a half dozen officers to what he hopes to God is his living husband. He should not have just spent the last week and a half searching desperately for clues and coming up empty.
He should not have been sent ransom videos of his husband being tortured in his name.
And most of all, he absolutely should never have received his husbands’s goddamn ring finger in the mail, wedding ring still attached, although a little scuffed.
So, when Carlos thinks back to that night, the illogical smells of the building are not the most insane and out-of-place things, but they still stand out somehow."
