Summary
Brianna and Claire discover that having your mom do your postpartum followup is awkward as hell. Claire and Jamie take refuge where they always do. Frasers, learning to be a family in fits and starts. Brief mentions of the Stephen Bonnet arc and its emotional implications, but no graphic details.
Title is taken from “My Medea” by Vienna Teng.
This story follows mostly show characterization and plot (especially about Frank and Claire’s lack of sex life) though I moved up when Jamie and Claire both know Bonnet is alive. I also assume Team Fraser stayed at River Run for a few days before Roger shows up. I wanted to explore how the hell Bree went from being so angry at Jamie to happy with him at her wedding, and how she felt about Claire missing Jemmy's birth. Her telling Murtagh she’d already forgiven her fstjer seemed too tidy.
This is set during and just after “Man of Worth” but ends just before “The Fiery Cross” wedding episode. This story is a standalone but overlaps somewhat thematically and temporally with another one, which is why it's Part 1 in the series.

Summary
This story spans seasons 4-7, show canon. Since as far as the show goes, as far as I can recall we have never seen Jamie and Claire discuss Geneva, in contrast to book canon where Claire learns about her from Lord John during “Voyager” as well as from Jamie. In any case, I wanted them to talk about it in the episode where John gets measles. I couldn’t write a post episode for 7x12, “Carnal Knowledge” without going back in time to earlier seasons. And I’m obsessed with the show’s stables scene in “Better to Marry Than Burn” even though I prefer the book version.
Jamie is guilt ridden. He also gets ridden. Claire and Jamie get back on the horse, as it were, in the aftermath of his return from the dead in Philadelphia.
Title is taken from “Kings and Queens” by Ava Max, the only song with feminist chess metaphors I know.
