Summary
The house hasn’t been this quiet since the day Eddie was hospitalized. It’s strange, this grief of grief, and Buck’s not sure what to do now that his preparations for the worst have amounted to nothing. He’ll have to give it back, he realizes, selfishly angry. He’ll have to give it all back. The house, the home, the make believe family. The two of them will end up with nothing but a legal contract in case of a hypothetical tragedy binding them together, and they’ll live apart, and he won’t get to cook dinner anymore or help out with homework or complain about TikTok music blaring from his Jeep’s speakers.
He thinks to himself, I can’t believe Shannon would leave this.
Which isn’t fair because he knows what it’s like to be abandoned at nineteen with an improper send off and a trembling hand. But he has to think that, because otherwise he has to confront his real horror: I can’t believe Eddie would leave this.
Which isn’t fair either. Because all he really means is, I get it. I’d drag the kid states away too if it meant I could take care of him forever.

Summary
Foggy’s still here, is the problem. No heartbeat, no warmth, but Matt feels him on his bad days. Hears his snore with aching clarity in the night and tries to muffle it with a pillow, but the sound stays constant. Sometimes something touches him in his empty apartment, trails up his arm and sweeps across the back of his neck. It’s usually Foggy, but sometimes it’s not. Sometimes it’s spiders, sometimes it’s Stick. Sometimes it’s just the draft of his air conditioner, but he can never be sure of that one. He stalks his apartment in the night like it’s his city, forcing himself into every haunted corner to prove he’s really alone.
His hand touches something slimy and awful on his living room wall once at two in the morning and he screams and he gags and he kneels down on the floor before taking his hand to clutch at his head and realizing there’s nothing on it at all.

Summary
He warns Chris as best he can, even though he knows he’s seen his father in bad shape before. It’s different this time, though, and they both know it. Chris hasn’t seen Eddie face-to-face in months, and now he’s stuck forever with this reunion, this memory, instead of a man bounding up his parents’ porch to kiss his hair or a dramatic cross-airport sprint for the best hug of his life, and Buck wishes he could fix it but he can’t. So he stays by his side, and they walk into the room together.
It’s bad.
Eddie’s on a ventilator, a thick tube running out of his throat and an IV hooked to his arm. There’s a catheter placed as discreetly as it can be, but it’s there, along with heartbeat monitors hooked up to his chest, which is thankfully covered by his hospital gown. Neither him nor Chris are ready to see how far the bandages stretch across him, how deep the scarring will run. Eddie, pale and with his eyes closed, looks like a ghost, like a man stretched thin, frozen between life and something else, between LA and Texas, between one half of his heart and the other.

Summary
Aziraphale’s quite huffy most nights now, though Crowley can’t particularly blame him. Tempting the anti-Christ into salvation would wear out any angel. By the time they’re out of costume and drunk in the bookstore, more than a few difficult quips have been exchanged between the two of them, insults and injuries that can only be hurled after a thousand years of knowing each other every way but Biblically. Crowley bites his tongue when he tries to apologize, knowing it’s not a demon’s place. Aziraphale, on the other hand, shows no remorse in his carefully crafted insults, stinging words that aren’t even meant to hurt, just remind Crowley of their ultimate divide that grows ever closer.
Aziraphale guards the garden. Crowley sullies the life.
He really hadn’t thought they’d throw the poor humans out over an apple of all things.

Summary
There are things that Carlos, as a professional scientist and a full-time human, knows. There is nothing more interesting than a beaker. His family and him don’t talk anymore. Night Vale is the most scientifically interesting town in America. And small towns in the desert should not be as kind to him as they are.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier AKA Maybe It’s Time Captain America Died by pollutedstar

Summary
When the two of them sober up, Steve’s face hardens again and he says seriously, “It’s just a shield, yeah. I believe that. But other people have made it a symbol, and that makes it a weight. Sam’s got his own life. His sister and him aren’t doing great with money.” He shrugs and starts drawing again. “Maybe it’s time Captain America died.”
