"O-ok sure. Um, just, the book you're reading, I've already read it, and uh, how do I say this, well, to put it simply, it's terrible. If you just started to read it, you can probably stop. That's all. I just noticed you were reading it and I couldn't help myself." she gave Nancy an awkward smile and scratched her neck. Nancy glared at her slightly and then closed the book.

It was actually hard to tell how serious anything was with Robin. She picked up girlfriends the same way she picked up interests and hobbies and conversation topics, with intensity and excitement and the sort of boundless joy of a brand new thing, at least until something else came along and pulled her focus. Some things stuck, most didn't. But she always showed up at the library on Tuesdays.

She should have changed out the tires on the wagon. She should have borrowed a truck from Hopper. She should have known better than to trust that the Indianapolis weather report of light flurries with accumulation of less than one inch in most areas would be at all accurate in Hawkins, where gravity didn't even always work in the same direction.
It was dangerous, and she should have turned back, probably, a while ago.
But she hadn't, because Robin was right, it was pretty. It was downright idyllic almost, assault weapons aside, pulling up to Robin's house with the snow clean and smooth over her yard, Christmas lights twinkling. Robin's rosy cheeks and nose, snowflakes in her eyelashes as she got into the car.
It was pretty. And Nancy was stupid.
